Whitney Elizabeth Houston, born 9 August 1963 to an incredibly musical family from Newark New Jersey is the daughter of the gospel singers Cissy Houston and John Russell Houston Jr. They are also cousins of the singer Dionne Warwick. The mother of Whitney Houston and her daughter started singing professionally at New Hope Baptist Church in Newark at the age of 15 years old.
